St. Martin’s Lutheran School

St. Martin’s Lutheran School provides quality education in a Christ-centered environment from 4-year-old Pre-kindergarten through Grade 8. Come experience St. Martin’s Lutheran School pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. A quality Christian educational program coupled with high academic expectations is offered at St. Martin’s Lutheran School, one of the best kept secrets in the Annapolis area. The school has been in existence for over 30 years, providing a premier educational setting and experience for our area.

St. Martin’s Lutheran School inspires students and their families to know and follow Jesus Christ. We come to know Jesus, God’s living word, through the Holy Bible, God’s written word, and through his Holy Spirit. As Scripture says, “Train up a child in the way he will go and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6. From this perspective, we nurture the mind, body, soul and spirit of each student in partnership with families. The school assists in carrying out the God-given privilege and responsibility of raising children by providing Christian instruction, academic education, and extra curricular activities with the goal of equipping children for God-pleasing and productive lives.

St. Martin’s Lutheran School is an extension of the church and home. When all three are united in a Christ-centered perspective, children receive a strong foundation for dealing with life experiences. Where parents are not committed to Christ and the church, we ask them to acknowledge our philosophy and to support the objectives of our school.

The aim of St. Martin’s Lutheran School, at every grade level, is to promote high academic standards within the potential of each student; to educate all students according to their developmental needs and cognitive abilities; to help each student gain the skills necessary for effective communication, such as reading, writing, speaking, listening, researching (including information literacy); and to facilitate every student’s discovery that science, math, and history are reflections of God’s creation and plan for the world.

An outstanding staff of committed and dedicated teachers share Christian values, which includes weekly chapel, combined with a highly academic focused curriculum for their students. In addition, the school has been the recipient of the Anne Arundel Private School Teacher of the Year Award for the years 2002, 2003, and 2006. Algebra I and Honors Science are available for middle school students. Spanish is taught beginning in pre-kindergarten. Religion, art, music, computers, library, and physical education round out the specials offered at St. Martin’s Lutheran School. The school has produced a National Science Fair finalist and county science fair winners for the past 5 years. Last year, the school participated in the National Stock Market Game and was the winner of 1st and 2nd place for the elementary and middle school divisions in Maryland.

The school also provides an excellent extra curricular sports program for middle school students including basketball, field hockey, lacrosse, and soccer. Dramatic opportunities are also offered for both lower and middle school students. An after school band program is also available. In addition, parents can enroll their child in an outstanding before and after care program.

St. Martin’s Lutheran School has a strong commitment to community outreach. Each year students participate in activities that include: weekly collection of food donations to support of the Lighthouse Shelter, periodic drives to assist with disaster relief both nationally and internationally, collecting clothing for needy school children, support for soldiers in Iran and Afghanistan, providing animals for families in foreign countries to improve their quality of life through the Heifer Project, and community stream clean-up.

St. Martin’s Lutheran School is committed to maintaining an atmosphere of warmth and understanding that is conducive to spiritual growth, sensitive interpersonal relationships, wholesome leisure activity, optimal emotional and physical health, and eventual vocational fulfillment.
