Boatyard Bar and Grill's
4th Annual Spring Fishing Tournament

On the wooden beams high above the Boatyard Bar & Grill are the outlines of three huge rockfish caught by the winners on the Annual Boatyard Bar & Grill Opening Day Rockfish Tournament. Inside last year's fish it says "Winner of 2004 Spring Fishing Tournament Pat Vaillant 43 1/8" caught off Bloody Point." Having their fish outline and name on a beam in the Boatyard for all times is a big deal for Chesapeake Bay fishermen. Last year's event drew over 400 fishermen on 78 boats.

The Fourth Annual Boatyard Bar & Grill Fishing Tournament will be held on Saturday, April 16th, opening day of Rockfish Season on the Chesapeake Bay. Same as last year, where the event raised over $11,000, the proceeds will benefit the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Coastal Conservation Association Maryland, and the Annapolis Police Department's Youth Fishing Camp. This is a one-day tournament followed by a gala "Rites of Spring" party held in the parking lot of the Boatyard Bar & Grill in Eastport, Annapolis. The party and awards ceremony which follows the fish "measure-in" will feature entertainment provided by "Dan Haas and Ben's Bones Band", special rum drinks and delicious food. Fish are measured at the Boatyard from 3 to 5 p.m. Wonderful prizes donated by the event's sponsors are awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd longest fish and longest fish practicing "catch and release." The winner's picture also hangs in the Boatyard for the year as well. The Skipper's Meeting is held at the Boatyard on Friday, April 15th from 6-7 p.m. the entry fee is $150 per boat (4 anglers) plus $30 for each additional angler; the fee includes the party.

Rules and regulations will be available at the Boatyard and at Angler's Sports Center on Rt. 50 by March 1st. They will also be available on the Boatyard's web site www.boatyardbarandgrill.com under "fishing". Deadline for registration will be Thursday April 14. This year's sponsors include Angler's Sports center (Presenting Sponsor), Absolute Party Rental, allTACKLE.com, Bass Pro Shops, BoatU.S., Captain's Seaside Guide, Chesapeake Whalertowne, DePaolo and Sons, E. & J.
